‘Glow’ is a knitted safety apparel collection that uses light reflecting, generating and enhancing materials to increase visibility of cyclist commuters.

 

These speculative textile concepts contain retro-reflective yarn, fibre optic filament, LED lights, mirrored acrylic, metallic foil and laminate. The foundation is New Zealand merino wool, which contains a multitude of benefits including moisture/heat management and odour control. ‘Glow’ shows the potential of new technologies to enhance the safety and performance textile markets.

 

This project was selected as a semi finalist at the New Zealand ECC Student Craft and Design Awards.
